OpenAI closes a 122 billion dollar round at an 852 billion valuation

OpenAI closed a funding round of $122 billion in committed capital at a post-money valuation of $852 billion on 31 March 2026. Amazon anchored the round with a $50 billion commitment, part of it contingent, while NVIDIA and SoftBank each invested $30 billion.

Why it matters to a buyer

The investor list matters more than the number. Three of OpenAI’s largest backers are also its infrastructure suppliers or distribution channels, which is worth understanding before treating any of them as a neutral advisor on model choice.
